About FEBBA
Take a deep breath, and exhale.
Whatever kind of escape you're looking for, you've come to the right place. Each of our member Bed & Breakfasts has their own unique charm, and each host is well-versed in the art of hospitality.
Our Story
In 2006, after years of cooperating and helping one another, local B&B hosts decided to come together to form a more formal Association. A small group of volunteers worked for a year to study other associations, and to write a set of by-laws that represented our belief in providing quality experiences, and our commitment to safety, consistency and standards among all our members.
Forming an association also meant we could speak with one voice to government and tourism stakeholders, and become more effective and supportive of initiatives with partners in our community.
We've come a long way since then.
The Fergus Elora Bed & Breakfast Association is member-driven and member-funded. Our B&B members are inspected and approved according to the same provincial standards used by the Federation of Ontario Bed and Breakfast Accommodation (FOBBA), of which we ourselves are proud members.
This sets us apart from organizations such as Airbnb. Even though some of our hosts may advertise on sites like Airbnb, we are all registered Ontario businesses, we pay required taxes, abide by local by-laws, and we live on the property. And, of course, we all serve breakfast.
FEBBA B&B hosts and our elected Board of Directors are actively involved in our communities. We have a wealth of knowledge to share about B&B operations and best practices, serving guests, using technology and, of course, recipes and food ideas.
Twice a year, we have a pot-luck social event, which is a great chance to network and catch up with friends in the business. Our Annual General Meeting takes place in November, and all members are encouraged to participate and get involved.
As FEBBA members, we do not consider ourselves to be in competition with one another. We work together for the benefit of our guests, our members, and the local tourism community. Our numbers have fluctuated over the years as new hosts came and others retired. But we remain enthusiastic in our goals, and look forward to welcoming you to Fergus and Elora.

Official Definition of an Ontario Bed & Breakfast
The Federation of Ontario Bed & Breakfast Accommodation, of which we are a member, defines a Bed and Breakfast as:
"An owner-occupied, private, residential dwelling that is the owner’s principal residence, and in which the owner has control of the environment. It provides temporary accommodation not exceeding 28 consecutive days, and amenities and services auxiliary to guest accommodation, including the preparation and service of breakfast for an all-inclusive fee."
